Chess Sets With a Story to Tell

About The Chess Chronicles
Apparently, I am incapable of making a normal chess set. It started innocently enough. I wanted to design seven completely different chess sets inspired by the favorite things of my seven children. Make some fun pieces, print them, put them on a board. Simple.
Then the chess sets needed cases.
The cases became books.
The books needed titles.
Obviously, the titles needed stories.
Then the stories needed characters, histories, field notes, and their own slightly questionable curators.
And somewhere along the way, The Chess Chronicles was born.

Each Chronicle begins with an idea and becomes its own tiny world. The chess pieces aren't simply Kings, Queens, Bishops, Knights, Rooks, and Pawns. They might become dragons, soccer gear, skeletons, sea creatures, plants, ski equipment, or something we haven't thought of yet. Every set is designed piece by piece, 3D printed, tucked inside its own book-style case, and given a story that explains exactly how it found its way into the Library.

Some Chronicles are beautiful. Some are strange. Most have a sense of humor. Professor Phalanx insists they are all historically significant. We have chosen not to argue with a skeleton.

Behind the Library is me, Suzanne. By day, I'm a fifth-grade teacher. By night, I design, model, print, test, reject, redesign, print again, and occasionally celebrate when a chess piece finally behaves itself. My husband works with pipelines and has somehow accepted that our home now contains an unreasonable number of tiny Kings. The original seven sets have grown into something much bigger, and the Library is still expanding. New Chronicles will appear as they're completed, along with their stories, characters, and whatever else they insist on becoming. And if there's a Chronicle you think belongs on the shelves, tell us. Custom ideas are always welcome. After all, every Chronicle has to start somewhere.
